Blizzard of 2011 ...

Everyone was blogging about the blizzard of 2011 during the past few weeks ... so I decided to wait on my "blizzard blog".  After all ... if you read about one blizzard ... you read about them all.

Yes ... I nearly lost my mind during the massive snow storm that we had ... after the ump-teenth snow day of being trapped in the house with the kids.  But there is nothing like opening your door ... as the street lights flicker off of the freshly fallen snow ... as the snow flakes dance out of the sky ... and there is total silence everywhere.

Beautiful!

So ... to help create some memories of the blizzard ... Breeanna and I decided to keep track of all the snow fall that we were getting.

At 11:00 our neighbor told us that there was 3 inches ... so that saved us a trip of getting bundled up and going outside to measure it ourselves.

At 12:00 there was 4 inches ...

And the snow was coming down like crazy ...

At 1:00 in the afternoon we were up to 5 inches ...

And Eythen was just itchining to go outside and play in the white mess ...

.

At 2:00 we jumped up to 7 inches ...

And had drifts up to 26 inches next to our house ...

We decided to take a break from measuring the snow
from 2:00 and 5:00.
Instead we took a nap in the living room with the
fireplace on ... while watching a Disney movie.

At 5:00 Eythen decided that he wanted to attempt to measure the snow ...
but he was more interested in shoving the tape measure
anywhere he could find large piles of snow.

So Breeanna decided to go out and get an accurate meaurement ...

Even though Eythen was certain he was doing a good job at it ...

But Breeanna wanted an "exact" measurement ...

At 5:00 we were up to 10 inches ...

At 6:00 ... Breeanna bundled up ... and headed back out to
brave the blizzard ...

This time after discovering that we had 11inches at 6:00 ...
Breeanna decided to see how high the large drift was next to our house ...

And got a measurement of 34 inches ...

Our final measurement of the evening was at 7:00 ...
12 inches ...

And the next morning ...

there was just ...

to much snow to measure ...

All the while ... the dog nearly got swallowed up by the snow
drifts during a little potty break outside..
